The Momme weight of silk describes the weight of 100 yards of silk, 45 inches wide, in pounds. So, if a fabric is listed with a momme weight of 8mm, it means that 100 yards of the fabric weighs 8 pounds.  Many silk clothing items will be around 8mm in weight. Higher quality silks tend to be 14, 15 or 16mm or higher. Our Silk pillowcases a have a momme of 22 ensuring their high quality and great feel.

Normally the more momme silk has the longer it will last.

Some basic tips

• Before washing - Turn your pillowcases inside out, put it in a old pillowcases or laundry bag to help protect it during the wash cycle
• Place it in the washing machine on a cold or warm delicate wash at max 30C.
• Use a detergent that does not contain bleach.
• Naturally dry your pillowcase (out of direct sunlight)
• Complete the above and your all set :)

TIP - If you absolutely love your pillowcase, feel free to hand wash it, it will love the attention :)

Low quality silks much be dry cleaned but your premium quality and high momme of our silk means that it can be machine washed.
